Four Point QVC Tutorial using an API Laser Tracker and TrackerCal Software

The purpose of the four point QVC is to tighten your encoder angles and ensure that the front and backsight measurements are within tolerance.

Full-QVC-Tutorial-SmallOnce your tracker is warmed up please open your TrackerCal software that is provided on the flash drive located inside your tracker case. Initialize the tracker through IP Discovery and once the tracker is found click Connect Tracker. To activate the full four point QVC you must first login as an administrator by going to Users in the menu at the top, hover over administrator and then click Login. In the popup window enter the Username and Password and then click login.

Select QVC Full on the tab at the top of the window. A window titled Full QVC Introduction will pop up, click next to continue. TrackerCal software will then walk you through a series of four measurements. Specific target ranges can be found on the left hand side of the screen.

The first position will be position A. This requires your target for measurement to be located at a distance of less than one meter with an elevation and azimuth angle of zero. Once the tracker is within range click pick, the tracker will then measure both front and backsights. Once complete you will automatically proceed to position B.

Position B requires your target to be located at a distance of five meters or greater with an elevation and azimuth angle of zero degrees. Once the tracker is in range click pick. The tracker will then measure both front and backsights. Once complete you will automatically proceed to position C.

Position C requires your target to be at an elevation of 55 degrees plus or minus (+/-) five degrees. Once your target is in range click pick and the tracker will then measure both front and backsights. Once complete you will automatically proceed to position D.

Position D requires your target to be at an elevation of negative 55 degrees plus or minus (+/-) five degrees. Once your target is within range click pick and the tracker will measure both front and backsights.

Immediately after position D you will proceed to the Full QVC Results window. It should state “The QVC is good.” If that is the case please click Finish/Update. If some parameters are out of tolerance please click cancel and contact API for support.
